| Why?
"Terminus" is in post production now (May 2005) and, from what I've seen of the roughs, kicks ass. Director David Scott Hay seems to have done everything right with the piece. It's an oddball loop of a screenplay -- a drama about a travel agent selling tickets to people's past. It stars Brian Alan Hill and Tom Hickey and was written by lil' ol' me. Originally, David was attached to do the film of "Water Pressure." Using some spec money, the plan was to shoot the opening 10 minutes of "Water Pressure" to entice a $40 million investor to the production company. But, being a period piece of great complexity, as the Chicago shoot dates for "Water Pressure" came closer, there was a change in plans. There was talk for a few weeks of doing my other screenplay "Turn Signals" with the same crew, but even that was too large in scope to execute well. So instead, I got a call on a Thursday night at 7 PM asking if I could write a third film by the next morning using such-and-such locations, these actors, these props, etc. It was a complete 11th hour, paint-by-numbers exercise. Fairly typical Hollywood stuff, but, I like a good challege. So, in 3 hours, I banged out a screenplay called "I Am An Agent," which was re-christened "Terminus" when it went to start shooting 3 days later. Yes. Three days later. |
