| Why?
I've always liked hoaxes. And this one's good and sexy. Note: not an actual porn film, though plenty of teasing. "Lesbian Pornographic Feature Film" is the story of a porn shot in 1979 by an unknown director with a obsure cast on a shoestring budget. Shortly after the final cut was completed, the cans were all stolen from the production company and lost, never released, for another 30 years. When finally recovered in the attic of a deceased Christian radical, the film is intact except all sex scenes have been removed. The documentary "wrapper" details the search for the cast, and crew to discovery why the film is actually a high-quality work of art. The porn itself is a light-hearted, "Diner"-like story of female empowerment through punk rock; the documentary is a slightly melancholy exploration of what might have been. |
