Why?

There has been some interest in a film version my 2005 novel "Documentia." I had some time, so I did an adaptation. It's a fairly literal one, as the plot of the novel was pretty easy to transfer to film. I figured actually having a script might keep the project in the limelight a bit longer. And, it's still a story I really enjoy.

"Documentia" the novel continues to have my typical market response, the same thing that happens with all my prior work. I cannot seem to avoid a love / hate relationship. Critics and a majority of readers think its one of my best pieces. The industry and a smaller portion of readers fucking hate it. Here I thought I had crafted a subtle thriller true to its roots in 70s genre fiction ("The Conversation," "Hopscotch," or "The Boys from Brazil.") But what I hear over and over again is, "No one gives a shit about the 70s." Strange, because the novel is now my best seller. I really thought it was commercial step for me and would help establish me above my cult status. Alas, none of that has come to pass, and it's just yet another successful underground project. Oh, well. I guess I'll just write another book, which is what I was planning to do regardless of the industry reaction to "Documentia" anyway. Thanks to everyone who bought or supported this story, though. It is appreciated.
